Cocker Spaniel - Working Gundog

Welcome at the Kennel of Schwarzen Bock with a picture of our four working spaniel gundogs at St.Cyrus Beach in Aberdeenshire Scotland.

We work with our English Cocker Spaniel dogs in our hunting grounds of about 1.000ha / 2.600acres in the middle of Bavaria.
We do not hunt just for fun - as we live at the historic hotel
SchwarzerBock in Ansbach with a well-known restaurant with regional products, our dogs are an important part of getting wild game venison to the kitchen. Almost daily we are working in our hunting grounds with our dogs, whether training or real hunting. In our hunting estate we do hunt roe deer, boar, ducks, goose, hare, dove, snipe, fox and badger. With Austrian friends we had the Cocker on Marmot hunts up to 2.600 metres / 8.500ft and they did very well. In autumn and winter we are permanent guests at driven hunts at forest estates of friends and of the state of Bavaria as well as at the Federal German Forests. If you are interested in Cocker Pups or hunting with us please contact us via email cocker(@)schwarzerbock.com or call us +49 (0) 981 421 24-0. You must be active hunter, mantrailing or dummy sports to get enlisted on the puppy list.

  • Harriet of Eichleite: our old lady - BP (Bavarian hunting dog exam) our specialist on blood tracking
  • Josie of Talbrunnen: our retired bitch, BP, JZP (youth hunting tendency test) II. price, HZP II price.
  • Arran of Schwarzen Bock: BP, JZP II. and III. Price and Exam Winner.
  • Aeon of Schwarzer Bock: BP, out current breeding bitch

It is absolute fabulous to see how intelligent and efficient the Cocker are hunting boar or how they work together through thick bushes. On boar hunts, they are protected by kevlar armour and we do go into the bush with our dogs with a dirk or spear only. But even if they turn into hunting maniacs out in the field they are cosy coddlers at home and will need the contact to you.
We do give our Cocker Spaniels to hunters only and we are quite strict concerning the way we would like our dogs to be treated: we do not sell if the dogs are kept in a kennel only - a Cocker Spaniel is a member of the family.

Enclosed you find some pictures and impressions from our dogs, hunts and trips - as beeing small dogs, they fit in the car with our three children, another plus for the Cocker Spaniel, it is a true kind of a pocket-tool :-)!
